There’s so much in this book and often I open it to a random page to find something that is just mind blowing. Mind blowing I think because I’m so far familiar with the classics of HCI and to see those principles, pop up here is a treat, akin to the feeling when I read Design of Everyday things, another book I keep coming back to for.
(Also there a baby in lap. May be a short pomodoro)
I’m curious about how people do the design thinking flow, in things other than features and interfaces, and especially things that fall very close to the body. Opened randomly to a case study on The Cyberia Suit, a suit for extreme cold I take it.
test them on users
Really curious about this. What’s a Win?
Now my 4 year old wants me to read aloud. Short Pomo indeed.
4 year old is now transfixed with the “yo-yo interface”.
the suit to send automatic alarm messages if the sensor data was abnormal
Tremendous idea. I’ve thought Why couldn’t we have something like this in a city to prevent crime. Or on campus to prevent assault.
to cancel them if [the messages automatically sent by the suit] were sent erroneously
I think this is important. Always a delicate dance when the user isn’t in control. This is THE case where you want the suit to act on behalf of the user with out user action, the case where the user is physically incapacitated.
