The portable environment

Went diving in the university library stacks this weekend and found this guy, oldest edition I could find.

My interest in functional clothing came about largely because of the encouragement ad approachability of Steven J Kennedy, a former director. .. of the Clothing and Personal Life Support Equipment Laboratory, US Army.

Its cool to follow the lineage of this work.

One would assume that its roots are military.

I think approachability in education goes a long way.

ballistics and body armor

I don’t hear much about work in this area much sitting here in MN, but I’m certain its out there.

I’d like to pause and express my appreciation for the typeface. Very cool. Very of the era.

I wonder if the type in Functional Clothing Design is a nod to this face.

Clothing is our most intimate environment

the lines between clothing, products, and housing often cannot be clearly drawn.

Many of the lessons learned from producing space suits have been bought back to earth to make contributions to specialized medical and industrial clothing as well as recreational garments for the average person.

How much of did I also read last fall from Functional Clothing Design?

functional clothing

I suspect quite a lot. (to the above question)

… looks at the ways clothing protects the body, increases health and safety, improves a worker’s job efficiency, or increases body function.
