Project Jacquard

A well over due read.

Any object made using Jacquard textiles can be digitally interactive and computationally responsive.

digital sensing and computation become basic properties of the textile materials — like weight, color, and elasticity.

Interested in the computation piece of this.

I don’t see any computation power in these fabrics?

Going back to read the manufacturing details

Connecting individual yarns from textile required careful plucking of each yarn and soldering it to electronics, which was a laborious and error-prone process that could not scale to mass manufacturing. … We concluded that for interactive textiles to be useful, the interactivity of the textiles must reside in limited locations

it was important to persevere the original vision for interactive textiles where interactivity is seamlessly woven into the fabric, rather than an external add-on.

Why do I feel like some details are missing on how to make this fabric?

I do appreciate the notes on the low power consumption.

I think my further reading will fill the void on fabrication details.
