Making inteface swatches & the heat problem

The lady in JoAnns told me her husband worked on soft heat coils. PRetty cool.

The thing I want to make first is something I want to wear myself! A voice recorder!

The hardware is ready but its been waiting for a swatch that can protect me from heat.

Once I sew this together, I’ll still need to run a battery cable.

Deciding a size for the swatch

Doubling the insulation it is still too hot! Reading my advisor’s book, I’m doing it wrong. Air?

With my wife’s permission I might appropriate some WIPs. 🙂

Will this unfurl when I slice it?

No, as it turns out.

I’m working wearing this device and I don’t feel the heat on top of this crochet air-filled layer. Remarkable. Something about the crochet headband felt cool in my hand in comparision to the insul fleece, and I knew it was going to work. A Al layer for blocking induction and a crochet air layer for blocking conduction. Brilliant.

Physics required. 🙂
